Our Approach
“Play is the highest form of learning!” — Friedrich Froebel
Children Learn by Doing
Hands-on, active play sits at the heart of deep and meaningful learning. At Shining Stars, children explore, investigate, and experiment through real experiences; whether at the water play, construction area or creative stations. This practical approach builds physical skills while strengthening concentration, resilience and confidence. By engaging directly with materials and ideas, children form lasting, meaningful connections within their learning that extend well beyond their nursery years.
Natural Materials Matter
We constantly provide open-ended, real and natural resources that invite children to imagine, investigate and problem solve. We know that the simplest, most natural materials are often the most powerful for learning, especially for our youngest learners.
By encouraging play with materials such as wooden blocks, pinecones, shells, fabric scraps or water and sand, we enable exploration without the distractions of pre-determined outcomes, but through hands-on discovery that encourages children to explore and create in their own ways.
The Classroom is the “Third Teacher”
We believe that the environment itself plays a vital role in learning. Our children thrive in our welldesigned, stimulating spaces that spark curiosity, exploration, and creativity.
At Shining Stars, we achieve this through small class sizes and intimate learning experiences, allowing staff to build strong relationships with each child and respond to their individual needs. Our classrooms
are carefully arranged with focused activities and areas for free choice, giving children the opportunity to
explore materials, ideas and challenges at their own pace.
What Makes Us Special?

Interest-Based Focused Activities
We carefully plan activities inspired by children’s natural curiosity, helping them build confidence, independence and autonomy, and a genuine love of learning across all areas of the curriculum.

Literacy at the Heart
With our Core Book System, children enjoy daily exposure to high-quality stories and rhymes, supporting familiarity, vocabulary, comprehension, and early reading skills.

The Power of Imagination
Role-play themes, small-world tuff trays, and puppet play ignite creativity, expand language, and help children make sense of the world around them.

Process Over Product
We value exploration, creativity, and problem-solving. Our focus is always on the thinking and learning that happens along the way, not just the final outcome.
